No tricks. Just treats!
This Halloween let's get creative with these fun and spooky Kellogg’s® Corn Pops® Cereal mummies.
Halloween is creeping up on us quickly which means that it's time to come up with a fun and yummy edible treat for the whole family to enjoy. And here is what I crafted for you today: a spin to the classic Kelloggs'® Rice Krispies® bars, made with Kellogg’s® Corn Pops® Cereal, and decorated into these super cute wide-eyed mummies. Take a look!
Just adorable, right?!? I bet now you also want to taste this delicious combination of Corn Pops cereal and white chocolate. It has the same ooey-gooey consistency as the classic treat, but made with a crispier and crunchier cereal.
These Halloween treats are one other excuse to stock up on Kellogg's cereals. As you can see, Corn Pops not only add a fun flavor to your morning breakfast bowl, but are great snack or ingredient for your next cooking project.
Next time I will make these treats with Kellogg's® Honey Smacks®. I'm sure they'll turn out Smackin' Good!
You can find these and more of Kellogg's breakfast cereal at your local Walmart store or using Walmart Online Grocery service. You can easily order on your phone like I did, for delivery or pick up at many locations. What's better than enjoying Walmart's amazing prices and products from the comfort of your home?!? Now, let's talk about the recipe for a minute. These mummies are super easy and quick to make. You are welcome to use the microwave to melt the butter together with the marshmallows, but I recommend using your stove and a big pan. The melted butter browns a little when cooking with the marshmallows and it will add a little extra buttery flavor to these treats.
Here is the recipe for you!

INGREDIENTS:

Yield: 8 bars
    • 4 cups Kellogg's Corn Pops Cereal
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 5 oz. marshmallows
    • 10 oz. white chocolate melting wafers
    • 16 googly eyes (or more if you cut in smaller size bars)

PREPARATION:

TIME: about 30 minutes
Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, or grease with butter.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Lower the heat to medium, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until melted.
Remove from the heat and add the Kellogg's Corn Pops and stir quickly until nicely coated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Spread out as well as you can. Place another piece of parchment paper on top, press down firmly to pack well and make it as even as you can.
Let cool down. With a sharp knife cut into bars. I made 8 rectangles, but you're welcome to shape as you wish.
Place the white melting wafers in a bowl or dish with flat bottom. Melt following the instructions on the package. I microwaved on half power for 45 seconds. Wisk well until smooth and melted.
Dip half of the bars in the chocolate. I used a spatula to spread it and removed the excess chocolate.
You don't need to coat the bottom, and don't worry if it's not perfectly covered with chocolate.
Place on parchment paper. Add the googly eyes when still wet.
Place the leftover melted chocolate in a piping or plastic bag. Cut a tiny corner and pipe the mummy making random lines across the treats. There is no need to be precise. Let dry until set, about 20 minutes.
Store in an air tight container, and best if eaten within a day.
